Woman found slain in Gardendale home; search underway for person of interest

A woman was found slain inside her Gardendale home Sunday evening, and now the search is on for a person of interest.

Gardendale Police Chief Mike Walker said an officer was flagged down about 5:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Greenwood Avenue. A family member was checking on the victim after having not heard from her on Sunday.

Police entered the woman's home, where they discovered she had been killed. They are not yet releasing her name or saying how she was killed, but said they believe her death stemmed from a domestic incident.

Jon Rodney Bowden is sought for questioning in a Gardendale homicide on March 18, 2018.

Late Sunday night, police were searching for 41-year-old Jon Rodney Bowden. He is described as a white male, 6-feet, 5-inches tall and weighing 230 pounds. His last known residence was Odenville.

The slaying is Gardendale's first homicide of 2018.
