NJ Nor'easter Possible On First Day Of Spring: UPDATES

Spring won't bring showers and flowers right away. Instead, a coastal storm is possible. The National Weather Service has the updates.

UPDATE: The potential for significant impacts from a storm Monday night through Wednesday has decreased, according to the National Weather Service. But the NWS says a nor'easter – perhaps a "quick hitting one" – is still very possible.

Given the uncertainty in the track of the storm three to five days out, it is too soon to dismiss the threat of heavy rain, wet snow, strong winds and coastal flooding on the first day of spring, according to the NWS.

It would be the fourth nor'easter to hit New Jersey in a little over 2 weeks.

A hazardous weather outlook was issued for the entire state, saying a coastal storm may impact the region Tuesday and Tuesday night. The details and any information about the potential impacts are uncertain at this time, according to the National Weather Service.

Lance Franck, a National Weather Service meteorologist, said low pressure systems are developing off the Atlantic coast and in the Ohio Valley that could ultimately give rise to a nor'easter.

AccuWeather says a large storm is likely to track over central U.S. states early this week, and the latest indications are this storm will turn eastward. That storm or a secondary storm may strengthen along the Atlantic coast by the middle of next week, according to a release.

Depending on the track and strength of both of the storms, parts of the mid-Atlantic, or New England or both areas may face yet another nor'easter with gusty winds, snow inland and rain or snow at the coast, according to AccuWeather.
