Likely Republican voters really like state Sen. Darren Bailey for governor, according to a poll conducted by Sun-Times/ WBEZ, a news outlet funded by Gov. J.B. Pritzker's sister and brother-in-law's family foundation.

  • Former Illinois Attorney General Jim Ryan, who twice made failed campaigns for governor died, family members confirmed on Sunday. Ryan, a Chicago native, also served as DuPage County state's attorney for a decade. He was 76. (ABC7)
  • Lake Michigan has receded so much this year that we can see how badly the shoreline has eroded. The news isn't good. Sand loss at Rainbow Beach has revealed cement foundations and landfill. (GMToday)
  • This week's tip: Wear sunscreen ... And remember your umbrella. It's going to be dangerously hot this week. And the possibly record-breaking heat index over 100 degrees that could usher in brutal storms. (CBS2)
  • Over the weekend, 21 people were shot and wounded, four fatally. Three people were shot near the Museum Campus while walking along the lake early Saturday. (ABC7)
  • Chicago police officer Erik Moreno, who was shot and wounded during a traffic stop in Englewood, was released from the hospital Sunday. Fellow officers cheered as Moreno was wheeled from University Chicago Medical Center by his partner. (CBS2)
