Want to make a career out of your passion for gaming? You might want to consider relocating to Seattle, WA.

The Why Axis Bug According to a new WalletHub study, Seattle is 2019's best city for gamers. To reach that conclusion, the personal finance website compared the 100 largest US cities across 23 "key indicators of gamer-friendliness," including the number of video game job openings per capita, number of esports tournaments, average prize money awarded at esports events, average internet speed, and predicted presence of 5G service by the end of the year. Other factors included the number of video game companies, college gaming programs, "sci-fi and games" meetups, and arcades in each city.

"Some cities cater to gamers by hosting the biggest events in the industry," WalletHub wrote. "That includes esports stadiums or conventions like PAX and the Electronic Entertainment Expo [E3]. Others offer the opportunity to get a career through college programs and company locations."

Home to game companies including Double Down Interactive, Big Fish Games, and the PAX West festival, the Emerald City ranks number one for gamers this year. Irvine, CA came in second place, followed by Los Angeles (number 3); Orlando, FL (number 4); and Atlanta (number 5). Rounding out the top 10 were New York (number 6); San Jose, CA (number 7); San Francisco (number 8); Austin, Texas (number 9); and Raleigh, N.C. (number 10). Las Vegas, home to E3, just missed the top 10 at number 11.

At the other end of the spectrum, Detroit ranked dead last as the city offering the least favorable conditions for gamers. Also ranking toward the bottom were Laredo, Texas (number 99); Memphis, TN (number 98); Cleveland (number 97); Hialeah, FL (number. 96); and Toledo, OH (number 95).
