A humiliating photo of Johnny Depp fast asleep with ice cream seeping over his jeans was shown in his libel trial Monday — with Depp admitting it was taken to show how “pathetic” he had become.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star was snapped by ex Amber Heard as he snoozed cross-legged on a couch, his head leaning back with his mouth wide open.
Depp, 57, was seen in the 2014 snap holding an upturned tub of ice cream that had dripped all over his leg, per the photo shown in London’s High Court.
Depp blamed his comatose state on having just been working 17-hour days — while conceding it was at a time he had agreed to go to his private island in the Bahamas to detox from prescription meds.
“I was obviously on the nod and very tired, falling asleep, and the ice cream then spilled all over my leg,” Depp said of the photo.
“Then she took that … and showed me the next day and said, ‘Look at what you’ve become … look at you, it’s pathetic,'” the Hollywood star said during his fifth and final day giving evidence in the case.
Asked if his ex showed him any other photos “of injuries” she claims she sustained in his alleged attacks, Depp insisted, “No, sir” — saying he never saw any before the court case started.
The photo was used in evidence in Depp’s case as he sues The Sun newspaper over an April 2018 article that said he was a “wife-beater,” which he has repeatedly denied.
Depp is accused of having attacked Heard, 34, throughout their tempestuous relationship, which he has described as “a crime scene waiting to happen” and allegedly put her in fear for her life — claims he says are “a choreographed hoax.”
Depp is also suing Heard for $50 million in the US for allegedly defaming him in a Washington Post article about domestic abuse. That case is due to be heard next year.
