STORRS, CT — Former University of Connecticut basketball player Stanley Robinson had died at the age of 32, the school's athletic department announced Wednesday.
Robinson was affectionately known as "Sticks" during his playing days as a Husky.
In a Twitter post, UConn officials said, "The UConn Basketball family grieves the loss of a great player and an even greater person, Stanley 'Sticks' Robinson. Our thoughts and prayers are with Stanley's family at this difficult time."
Robinson was from Birmingham, AL, and played for UConn from 2006 through 2010. He was part of the Huskies' 2009 Final Four team. He played under coach Jim Calhoun.
He appeared in 126 games and started 103 of them. He averaged 9.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He scored 1,231 points in his career at UConn.
A cause of death has not been released.
