Some Restaurants In PA Still Being Shut Down For Violations

PENNSYLVANIA — The state's latest round of restaurant closures was announced this week, as authorities continue enforcement upon establishments in violation of COVID-19 safety protocols.

Just four restaurants were included in the Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Food Safety most recent enforcement, covering the week from Feb. 15 to Feb. 21.

While the most stringent mitigation measures were lifted and many parts of the state have further relaxed restrictions as case numbers have decreased, a steady trickle of restaurants have continued to stand in open defiance.

These are the four restaurants closed in the most recent round of shutdowns:

• Village Café, Gordonville, Lancaster Co.
• Fire & Ice Smokehouse & Creamery, Halifax, Dauphin Co.
• White Horse Luncheonette, Gap, Lancaster Co.
• Sunny Cupboard, Schuylkill Haven, Schuylkill Co.

Restaurants are only ordered to close when they openly refuse to adhere to guidelines and make changes after being confronted by an inspector.

A total of 145 restaurants have now been ordered to shut down, including at least 16 for the second time. A total of 161 closure orders have been issued since Dec. 14.

February as a whole as only seen seven closures, and this is in part due to inspections being limited by heavy snow in various parts of the state, officials said.

The following restaurants were closed by the latest order from the state. A few of these restaurants had already appeared on previous shut-down lists, but were ordered to shut down a second time due to repeated violations after reopening:
