7 Movies Filmed at Asheville's Biltmore Estate You Can Stream Right Now

These days, as we stay at home amidst the coronavirus pandemic, we're looking for all of the entertainment and distraction we can get. Though we can't travel, we've loved touring the magnificent Biltmore Estate with their virtual grounds and garden tours in Asheville, North Carolina. Now, we're all about teleporting ourselves to George Washington Vanderbilt's 19th century home, which has been featured in nearly 20 feature films ranging from The Swan in 1956, starring Grace Kelly to 1994's Forrest Gump, with Tom Hanks taking on the eponymous lead role.

“Biltmore has been honored each time we’ve been selected as a location for a major motion picture production,” Travis Tatham, Biltmore’s Director of Entertainment and Event Programming, told Southern Living. “It’s so nice to know that these films exist so that future generations are able to see a side of the estate not often understood during a visit," she continued. And it's no surprise the Biltmore has been used as the backdrop in so many films–Biltmore House is a jaw-dropping French Renaissance-inspired château with beautiful gardens and rolling hills galore.

“We are proud to have been a part of the resulting positive impact these films had on western North Carolina’s economy, and have enjoyed hosting crews from all over the world who have come to Biltmore to produce these movies,” Tatham also added. Starring Jennifer Garner, Joel Edgerton, and CJ Adams, you'll see the estate grounds showcased throughout the film as you stay on the edge of your seat learning about one very magical child.

Starring Robin Williams, much of this drama that tells the story of the real life of Dr. Hunter Adams, was filmed in the meadows and hillsides surrounding Biltmore House.

Jennifer Garner returns to Biltmore Estate, along with Jack Lemmon, for this delightful political comedy which also features other venues throughout Asheville.

Tom Hanks dazzles in his portrayal of Gump in this classic film with diverse backdrops. During one scene where Forrest Gump is running across America, he was actually running along the very road which now leads to The Inn on Biltmore Estate and the property's Antler Hill Village & Winery.

Macaulay Culkin galavanted around America’s largest home in a movie which showed off many interior shots of Biltmore House. Fun fact: Some rooms in the sprawling abode were left largely unaltered during filming–even paintings of the Vanderbilt family members were displayed on-screen.

An unforgettable movie starring Daniel Day Lewis, see Biltmore’s bucolic forest and trees appearing throughout the film, along with a scene in which a carriage drives across the estate’s signature red brick Bass Pond bridge.
