Diplo plans to help San Francisco runners ride that post-workout high with a new club — and no, it’s not the after-hours kind.

Diplo’s Run Club, set to launch in San Francisco on Sept. 8, pairs a 5k run with an afterparty DJed by Diplo and his friends. The new venture melds the Grammy-winning DJ and producer’s personal passion for fitness with his love of music.

Tickets are on sale now, including VIP and virtual ticket options.

“A 5K may be intimidating to some,” he said in a statement, “but Diplo’s Run Club is for everyone and meant to be a good time for all — both seasoned runners or anyone just starting their running journey.”

After the Bay Area event, a run in Seattle is set to take place Sept. 14, with additional dates to be announced soon.

An avid runner, Diplo ran the Los Angeles marathon in May and participated in the Malibu triathlon in October. The idea for creating a running club was inspired by his desire for a post-workout celebration after completing such feats.

“I’m excited to finally get to combine two of my favorite things in one event: fitness and DJing,” he said.

Over the course of his 20-year career, Diplo has worked with renowned artists such as producer Mark Ronson, through their musical duo Silk City, and Australian singer-songwriter Sia, as part of a super group with British producer Labrinth called LSD. He has also launched two record labels — Mad Decent and Higher Ground — and DJed a handful of Super Bowl LVIII parties in Las Vegas earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Diplo is in the midst of a legal battle. The Los Angeles artist, born Thomas Wesley Pentz, is being sued by Shelly Auguste for sexual battery, gender violence and assault, among other claims made in 2021.

In 2020, Auguste was granted a temporary restraining order against the producer. The following year she filed a report with the Los Angeles Police Department against Diplo alleging sexual assault. The artist sued her for stalking, trespassing and distributing private materials in April 2021 and publicly denied her allegations in October of that same year.

In August 2023, Diplo was accused by Auguste of distributing “revenge porn.”

A civil trial is set for April.
