NFL's Michelle McKenna-Doyle out of running for Auburn athletic director job

NFL Chief Information Officer Michelle McKenna-Doyle, an Auburn alumna, is out of the running for the athletic director search

Another candidate for Auburn's athletic director position is out of the running.

NFL chief information officer Michelle McKenna-Doyle, an Auburn alumnus who expressed her interest in the position in November, told AL.com she has pulled out of the search process.

McKenna-Doyle has served as a senior vice president and chief information officer of the NFL since Sept. 2012. The Enterprise native has also worked with Constellation Energy, The Walt Disney Co., MetLife and Coopers & Lybrand.

Auburn is using Parker Executive Search along with a six-person advisory committee to assist university president Steven Leath in finding a new athletic director. Leath has indicated a hire could be by mid-January to fill the position, which Jay Jacobs announced he was resigning from on Nov. 3 and would serve until June 1, 2018, or sooner if a successor is in place.

Last month, AL.com reported UConn athletic director David Benedict and Virginia Tech athletic director Whit Babcock, both of whom worked at Auburn previously, were no longer candidates the position.
