JACKSON, MI – The Learning Fair is bringing hands-on learning experiences back to Jackson again this summer.
This is the 26th year for the fair, which is from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, July 12, at Northwest Elementary School, 3757 Lansing Ave.
The fair features hands-on activities, such as teaching kids how to make a race car, showing them how plastic bottles are made, how to install a spark plug in a Corvette engine, square dancing, a Civil War exhibit and more, Angela Klobuchar, who helps organize the event, said.
“It’s a great way for kids to learn in a hands-on way during the summer,” Klobuchar said.
In addition to the activities happening throughout the day, there will be several shows scheduled both days. Here is the schedule.
Thursday, July 11
- Noon – Rose City Harmonicas
- 12:30 p.m. – Jaws of life demonstration
- 1 p.m. – NASCO, Native American dancing
- 2 p.m. – Model T show with the Jackson Makerspace Pit Crew
- 3 p.m. – Baffling Bill the Magician
- 4:15 p.m. – Interactive square dancing
- 5 p.m. – Model T show with the Jackson Makerspace Pit Crew
- 6 p.m. – Hands-only CPR demonstration
Friday, July 12
- 10 a.m. – American Songbook
- 10:30 a.m. – Jaws of life demonstration
- 11 a.m. – NASCO, Native American dancing
- Noon – Model T show with the Jackson Makerspace Pit Crew
- 1 p.m. – Best of Broadway with Jerry Katz
- 1:30 p.m. – Model T show with the Jackson Makerspace Pit Crew
- 2:30 p.m. – Interactive square dancing
- 3:30 p.m. –Model T show with the Model T Experience Pit Crew
Lunch is free from noon to 3 p.m. both days for kids 18 years old and younger as part Jackson Public Schools Summer Nutrition program. Concessions are also available to purchase both days.
