See Man In Underwear Arrested On Atlanta Airport Tarmac

ATLANTA, GA — A 19-year-old man has been arrested after police say he jumped a fence, ran onto a tarmac in his underwear at the world's busiest airport, leaped onto a plane's wing and pounded on its windows, all while missing most of his clothes.

Atlanta Police arrested the man who had stripped down to only his underwear on Tuesday afternoon on a tarmac at the city's Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. He is charged with criminal trespass, public indecency and obstruction of law enforcement officers.

The bizarre incident happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

Police say the man "ran onto an active taxiway" then "approached an aircraft, jumped on a wing and began to pound on the windows." Cellphone photographs of the incident show that the man later taken into custody was wearing only a pair of underwear.

He was arrested after about five minutes, police said in a news release.

On Twitter, Hartsfield-Jackson said there were "conflicting reports" as to how the man got onto the runway. The airport said that operations there were not impacted.

WSB-TV obtained recordings from the airport's control tower during the incident. On them, airport officials can be heard describing bizarre behavior.

"He is tossing some stuff around," an official says on the recording, according to WSB. "My guess is he has his clothes off and now he’s laying on pavement … doing some pushups."

Cell phone video shot by passengers shows Jones talking to himself and making gestures toward the plane, which had just landed from Miami.
