An unvaccinated Texas father has been in the hospital for about a month fighting through COVID-19 following a family vacation to Florida, and the family now wants help with medical bills, according to a WKMG report.
Roberto Vera and his wife, Viri Gutierrez-Vera, had traveled from Dallas to spend two weeks in Florida with their children, WKMG reported. One of their stops was Universal Studios Orlando Resort. On their way back to Texas on July 1, Gutierrez-Vera started to feel ill.
Two of their children started to feel feverish, as well.
Roberto soon followed up with his own symptoms, WKMG reported.
When the family returned home, both Gutierrez-Vera and Roberto tested positive for COVID-19, WKMG reported.
Gutierrez-Vera’s fatigue made it hard to walk through the halls of her own home, but Roberto’s symptoms worsened even further as he began experiencing breathing problems, WKMG reported.
Low on oxygen, Roberto was taken to the hospital. He’s been there ever since and has been slowly getting better.
Gutierrez-Vera is vaccinated however, Roberto was not, WKMG reported.
The family has a GoFundMe page with a goal of $5,000 to help Roberto with the medical bills.
