A month after ABC canceled the reboot of Roseanne, the network announced on Thursday that a spinoff called The Conners will be coming this fall sans the sitcom's creator and star Roseanne Barr.

"The spinoff will continue to portray contemporary issues that are as relevant today as they were 30 years ago," ABC shared in a statement.

This news begs the obvious question: How will the show deal with Roseanne's departure? Will she take a permanent vacation? Leave her family to take a job at Uber headquarters? We have no idea what the writers will drum up, but it looks like Twitter certainly has some thoughts on the send-off.

Some viewers think the matriarch's absence will be dealt with in a light-hearted manner.

Most, however, think that the TV mom's ending won't be happy at all.

Many predict Roseanne will pass away, and the show writers will refer to her opioid struggles and health issues from previous episodes as reasons for her death.

Amid all these proposed plot lines, Deadline reports that the new series will focus on the family after "a sudden turn of events." We're going to assume that's in reference to Barr's absence, but whether or not the "events" will be comical or not is left open to debate. Guess we'll all just have to wait and see how Dan, Becky, Jackie, and the rest of the Conner crew will handle life in Langford without the star.

The Conners will air Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. EST this fall.
