Driver Charged With Murder For Running Down Two Norcross Men

The victims died in the parking lot of a billiards hall on Jimmy Carter Boulevard. They were identified Wednesday by Gwinnett police.

NORCROSS, GA β€” A man who police said killed two people when he ran them down with his pickup truck was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder.

Jose Basulto, 40, of Newnan killed two Norcross men when he ran over them in the parking lot of Corona Billiards on Jimmy Carter Boulevard, according to Gwinnett County Police. Another man who was injured was transported to a nearby hospital.

The victims were identified Wednesday as Regul Rodriguez-Hernandez, 37, and Jose Lopez-Diaz, age 41. The injured man was identified as Ramon Gasper-Carmona, 56, also of Norcross.

Investigators said they believe Basulto and the victims may have had a dispute inside the bar before they took it to the parking lot. An off-duty police officer arrested Basulto about a mile away from the incident soon after it happened.

Basulto, who is charged with two counts of felony murder and three counts of aggravated assault, was in the Gwinnett County Jail as of Wednesday afternoon.
