Halloween In Birmingham: Haunted Houses Open In the Metro Area

While the coronavirus has forced many annual Halloween attractions to close this year, at least a few haunted houses are open for 2020.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — While the coronavirus pandemic has thrown many plans for Halloween into the air this year, at least a few of the Birmingham area's annual haunted house attractions will be open in 2020.

Three of the area's most popular haunted house attractions are moving forward this year with some safety and health guidelines to follow:

Atrox Factory; 8404 Parkway Drive, Leeds

Oct. 2-3, Oct. 8-11, Oct. 15-18, Oct. 21-25, Oct. 28-31, Nov. 14; 7 p.m. Admission: starting at $20

Atrox Factory’s 50,000 square foot haunted attraction has been named one of the Top 10 Haunted Attractions in the United States. Atrox Factory is also the largest all-indoor haunted attraction in the Southeast.

Face masks are required, social distancing is enforced and hand sanitizer stations are on site.

Nightmare at 3008; 1731 Decatur Highway, Fultondale

Sept. 25-27, Oct. 2-4, Oct. 9-11, Oct. 16-18, Oct. 22-31. Opens at 7 p.m. and closes 10 p.m.-midnight, depending on the day. Sensory awareness day Oct. 11, 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Not so scary kids' day, Oct. 18, 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Admission: $25

Nightmare at 3008 was created in 2012 and is a top-rated haunted house, according to AlabamaHauntedHouses.com. Every year Nightmare donates a portion of their profits to Children’s of Alabama Childhood Cancer Research.

Masks are required, temperature checks and social distancing are enforced. Health questionnaire and “haunt waiver” posted on website, must be completed by all guests.

Warehouse 31; 3150 Lee St., Pelham

Sept. 25-26, Oct. 2-4, Oct. 9-11, Oct. 16-18, Oct. 21-31. Box office hours are 6:30 p.m.-midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, 6:30 p.m.-10 p.m. Sundays and weekdays. Admission: $24.95-$49.95, $10 for escape room.

Warehouse 31 includes two attractions: Rigamortis and 3D Experience. Both are indoors and cover nearly 30,000 square feet of twists and turns, according to organizers.

Face masks and social distancing are required, temperature checks at door and hand sanitizer stations included.
