‘Love Island’ stars lead tributes following Mike Thalassitis’ death

“Love Island” stars have taken to social media to pay tribute to Mike Thalassitis following his shocking death, which was reported earlier Saturday.

The TV favorite, known as “Muggy Mike” by fans, is said to have been found dead in a forest near his home town at the age of 26.

Taking to social media to pay their respects, the stars admitted that they were shocked and devastated to hear of his passing.

Chris Hughes, who appeared in the same series of the ITV2 show as Mike, tweeted: “His name was Mike Thalassitis, and every inch of my heart goes out to his family and friends. A good guy, taken far, far [too] soon.”

Chris was the one who gave Mike his famous nickname after the reality star was branded “muggy” for trying to steal the heart of Olivia Attwood.

Olivia shared a broken heart emoji to her Twitter page, posting a photo of herself with Mike to her Instagram Story and writing: “Literally don’t know what to say. Another one gone too young.

“Thinking of Mike’s family and friends at this horrendous time. You will be missed terribly.”

Her best friend Amber Davies wrote: “I am in utter shock. @MikeThalassitis you were one of the most genuine guy!

“I just can’t believe this! You’ll be missed so much you have no idea.”

Kem Cetinay wrote: “Such heartbreaking news. My thoughts go out to all of Mike’s friends and family.”

Fellow co-star Sam Gowland shared a photo of himself with Mike and added: “Absolutely lost for words.

“Not only made a friend in the villa but made a mate for life on the outside to!!! Absolutely devastated @MikeThalassitis R.I.P my mate.”

Dom Lever also shared a pic with Mike to his Instagram page, referencing their rocky relationship with the caption: “We may not have seen eye to eye but you were a top man.”

Marcel Somerville wrote: “Absolutely Devastated By This News! You’re gonna be missed little bro! Never forgotten!!!”

Gabby Allen shared a broken heart emoji as she wrote: “Such a kind genuine heart you had. Goodnight lovely @MikeThalassitis.”

Host of the programme Caroline Flack shared a snap of herself hysterically laughing with the star, writing: “Mike… you were a total gentleman… I won’t forget that … it’s so sad …you will be missed. RIP. ”

“Love Island” 2016 star Alex Bowen wrote: “I cant get my head round this RIP brother.”

Kady McDermott added: “In absolute shock. Mike Thalassitis your lovely self and smile will be truly missed.

“I send my love and condolences to all of his friends and family at this awful time. Will never be forgotten. RIP.”

Malin Andersson wrote: “Oh my. I have zero words. I’m completely confused. Literally in shock.

“Awful. Awful. Awful. Too many deaths. This is f–ked up. Can’t deal.

“Praying for his family at this time. Handsome young man you are. Rest in peace. We used to chat time to time, always smiling. Go be an Angel. ”

2018 contestant, Dr. Alex George wrote: “Devastated to hear of the passing of Mike Thalassitis. My heart goes out to friends and family.”

Alexandra Cane added: “In complete shock hearing about @MikeThalassitis. RIP, my heart is heavy.

“Thoughts & condolences to your family & friends.”

Zara McDermott posted on her Instagram Story: “Mike… I am so sorry. You were nothing but a gentleman every time I met you.

“I wasn’t lucky enough to know you well but I know you were loved and adored by so many people.”

Other stars also paid their respects, with comic London Hughes sharing a sweet group photo of herself out with Mike, writing: “Rest in peace Mike, I’m in shock.

“My heart goes out to his family. The guy was the absolute coolest!!! I’m so confused, this is so sad.”

Ex Towie star Joey Essex wrote: “People might of known him as muggy but he was far from that, he had a huge heart and was a very down to earth boy.

“Devastated is not the word, my love goes out to all of Mike Thalassitis family.”

Vicky Pattison shared a photo of Mike on Instagram and added: “I just realized we have no pictures together- I’m sorry, I do not even know what to say. I’m shocked and so incredibly sad.

“You weren’t the person people thought you were, Mike – you were a beautiful soul and always made me laugh and cheered me up when I was down.

“My thoughts and prayers are with your family. This truly is a tragedy. Rest in Peace my dear and I hope you know you were loved @mike_thala.”

Former Celebs Go Dating star Nadia Essex tweeted: “I loved the bones of him. I can’t cope thinking he’s gone.”

Ferne McCann wrote: “So so so so sad. Mike, you absolute gent. I have no words.

“My heart and soul and love goes out to his friends and family. Too young. RIP.”
