LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- Family-owned Constantino's Market has confirmed its plans to take over the former Nature's Bin space and reopen it as a full-service supermarket and its fifth storefront in Cleveland.
Andrew Revy, co-owner and CEO, said the Lakewood Constantino's, at 18120 Sloane Ave., will offer many of the same foods and services as their stores in Cleveland's Warehouse District and in Uptown in University Circle.
He said the deal closed this week and that he hopes to open the store by the end of November.
Revy said he considers this a long-overdue homecoming. "Anna and I were actually born and raised in Lakewood, and moved back three years ago" to take over and expand her father's business, he said.
The couple both graduated from Lakewood High School, in 1990 and 1993, although they didn't know each other at the time.
"Why we're excited, along with a lot of other people in Lakewood, is because we're continuing the Constantino's brand in a full-service neighborhood grocery store," he said. Anna is the company's chief financial officer.
The two just opened their second Constantino's Cafe on Monday, in the Edge Building at 1750 Euclid Ave. in Playhouse Square.
They hope to employ 32 workers in the Lakewood store, on top of the 89 full- and part-time employees they already have. Revy said hiring will start in early November.
In addition to jobs, they also hope to increase sales of the more than 150 locally sourced items they carry in their stores, including Anna in the Raw, West Side Salsa, Erie Island Coffee, Cleveland Vegan, Mitchell's Ice Cream and Sibling Revelry Beer.
The Lakewood store will also offer the same Nature's Bin vegan and vegetarian items available in other Constantino's, including sesame tofu, macaroni and potato salad and vegan carrot cake.
The Lakewood Constantino's will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Constantino's also operates: Warehouse District Market at 1278 West Ninth St.; University Circle Market at 11473 Euclid Ave.; Constantino's Cafe in the EY building at 950 Main St., and the Edge Cafe at 1750 Euclid Ave.
