GAME PREVIEW

This is a battle between the blueblood Tar Heels and upstart and brand-new-to-the-tournament Bison.

Lipscomb finished second in the Atlantic Sun Conference with a regular season record of 10-4, then won the conference tournament over Florida Gulf Coast University to win its bid into March Madness. It's the school's first-ever appearance in the tournament.

Watch out for the Bison at the three-point line. They made 35 3-pointers in three conference tournament wins while junior guard Garrison Mathews made seven 3 pointers and scored 33 points in the 108-96 win over FGCU in the championship game.

While No. 16 seeds have never beaten the No. 1 seed, there has been limited success for No. 15 seeded teams over the No 2 teams.

But, it won't be easy for Lipscomb.

North Carolina opened as a 19.5-point favorite in the first-round matchup and have had great success playing in its home state. The Heels are historically 11-0 in games played in Charlotte and 33-1 in national tournament games played in the state of North Carolina.

The Tar Heels are led in scoring by guard Joel Berry (17.1 ppg) and forward Luke Maye (17.2 ppg). Berry and fellow senior Theo Pinson have enjoyed three straight Sweet 16 trips and two appearances in the national title game.
