MURRAY WINS! Andy Murray v James Duckworth (4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4)
Game, set, match for Murray.
In a bizarre ending to the match, he looked to have sealed it with an ace but it was called out before Duckworth then challenged the second serve. A last-ditch attempt to stay in the game for the Australian but it was an incorrect challenge and Murray sealed the win.

Next up for Murray is a second-round meeting with John Isner.

It had been nip and tuck throughout this set but Murray finally found the breakthrough. He forced it to 15-30 on Duckworth's serve. A double fault then gave him two crucial break points. MIKE DICKSON: Emma Raducanu was far from overwhelmed in her first appearance on Centre Court... the teenager showed there is no shortage of steel beneath her beatific smile to see off Alison van Uytvanck

Strange to say that, prior to Monday, ex-Chelsea footballer Graeme Le Saux had spent more time on the Centre Court than Emma Raducanu.

As an All England Club member, the once international full back had been one of those chosen to break the surface in with a social mixed doubles on Saturday.

The US Open champion had to content herself with some prior visualisation out in the arena, familiarising herself with its dimensions.

Whatever she did in the past few days it worked, because last year’s A-level student passed this latest exam with flying colours, a tricky paper having been set by Alison Van Uytvanck.

She first encountered Raducanu in November 2018, when the star of New York was a total unknown playing a small international tournament on the Wirral.

The teenager’s opponent was the Belgian’s then partner Greet Minnen. After Raducanu had won Van Uytvanck - already an established top 100 player who was practising there that week - made a point of telling the Kent teenager’s coach how impressed she was with her level.

She will know even better now how good she is, having tried everything to ruin this much-anticipated Centre Court debut.

MURRAY WINS THE THIRD SET! Andy Murray* v James Duckworth 6-2 (4-6, 6-3)
Having fallen a set behind, Murray is now a set to the good.
He lost the opening point with a shaky shot into the net but then retaliated by taking the heat out of a Duckworth smash. Duckworth then netted and Murray had two set points which he converted with a forehand winner.

And there has just been confirmation that the roof will be closed - Duckworth should be happy.
20:44
Andy Murray v James Duckworth* 5-2 (4-6, 6-3)
Duckworth sat down after that game and appeared to vent again about the roof being left open.

He told the umpire, about the roof being closed and lights being turned on: 'If he [Murray] asked, then they'd come on.'
20:44
Andy Murray v James Duckworth* 5-2 (4-6, 6-3)

Another break and Murray could have taken the set but he could not manage the feat again as Duckworth held his service for only the second time this set. It was more solid from the Australian as he asked questions of Murray.

Duckworth appeared to be calling for the roof close as the natural light is fading and he’s struggling to see the ball. An official came over for a chat and we may see the fourth set or beyond being played under the roof at Centre.
20:28

Emma Raducanu WINS on her Centre Court debut as she impresses in straight-sets victory of Alison Van Uytvanck to book her place in the second round of Wimbledon

Emma Raducanu put her troubled build-up behind her as she marked her Centre Court debut by defeating Alison Van Uytvanck to reach the second round of Wimbledon.

The 10th seed's participation in the tournament was in doubt until the weekend because of a side strain suffered at the WTA Tour event in Nottingham three weeks ago.

Coupled with the huge attention on the US Open champion's homecoming and a tricky opponent, this was a major test, but Raducanu passed it impressively by claiming a 6-4 6-4 victory.

Centre Court was only half full when Raducanu took her first steps on it as spectators took a break following Novak Djokovic's victory, but she received an enthusiastic welcome from those left.

While the 19-year-old had given an upbeat assessment of her fitness and mindset at her press conference on Saturday, the stresses of a match, particularly such a high-profile one, are inevitably different to practice.

Andy Murray* v James Duckworth 1-0

Back in action on Centre Court as Andy Murray looks to follow up fellow Brit Emma Raducanu's triumph.

And he got off to an ideal start as he served to win the first game.

Two early errors from Duckworth quickly brought Murray up 30-0. But he then duffed a forehand which caught the line and Duckworth put away the forehand winner. The unseeded Australian then responded well with a decent shot out of Murray's reach to get to 30-30.

But at 40-30, a slice from Duckworth crept into the net and Murray held the opening game.

British men's No1 Cameron Norrie overcame two rain breaks in a straight-sets victory over Pablo Andujar to reach the second round of Wimbledon for a third successive year.

Norrie might have expected a more prestigious assignment than first up on Court Two at 11am on the opening morning.

What looked like a quick assignment when he raced through the first set in just 23 minutes turned into a drawn-out affair thanks to the weather, with Norrie finally completing a 6-0 7-6 (3) 6-3 victory just after 4pm.

Having missed three match points before the rain came for a second time, Norrie was back on court for just four minutes and six points to set up a clash with another Spaniard, Jaume Munar.

Novak Djokovic* v Soon-woo Kwon (6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4)

But Kwon manages delay any hope the former world No 1 has of sealing this set easily.

'Percy Pigs are one of my favourite snacks!': Wimbledon wildcard Jodie Burrage says she hopes 'fainting' ball boy is OK... after British star is knocked out of SW19 first-round

British Wimbledon wildcard Jodie Burrage has revealed Percy Pigs are one of her favourite snacks after offering some to a ball boy who was on the brink of fainting in the middle of her match.

The 23-year-old paused play alongside her opponent, Ukraine's Lesia Tsurenko, for around 10 minutes as the youngster was led to a chair by a linesman and later helped off court.

Spectators said Burrage was 'really sweet' as she attempted to revive him, and she told reporters afterwards that she empathised with the boy after herself suffering panic attacks as a junior at Wimbledon.

The women's world number 169 said: 'I definitely love a Percy Pig, that's for sure.

'I know that other people like them as well. Percy Pigs are one of my favourites, I would say, so I'd definitely recommend it.'

Burrage lost her game 6-2 6-3.

Wimbledon fans will be cheering from the stands as the two-week tennis tournament gets underway today - but no one will be more excited than the players' proud plus-ones.

Among those who have made the journey are Costeen Hatzi, the influencer girlfriend of Australian tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios, and Eugenia De Martino, the model dating Argentina's Diego Schwartzman.

This is better, cleaner hitting from Djokovic and right now he is getting the better of Kwon on the extended rallies.

Kwon does well though to take the game to deuce, and there is more Djokovic self-disgust after making a hash of a backhand slice.

A forehand winner on the volley sees Kwon save the break point and take the opening game of the fourth.

15:32
Novak Djokovic* v Soon-woo Kwon 6-4 (3-6, 6-3)

Now that's how you seal a set. A top service game from Djokovic, who takes a 40-0 lead with the help of two aces.

And another seals the set, again with little celebration, but the Serb has responded the way champions tend to do.

15:29
Novak Djokovic v Soon-woo Kwon* 5-4 (3-6, 6-3)

That's more like it Novak! He jumps acrobatically to his left to try and return a firm Kwon forehand, which ultimately had too much power.

And that appears to kick him in to life, forcing errors from Kwon to take him into a 15-40 lead.

The searching backhand and groundstrokes then sees him take the opportunity, and from a tricky position the Serb is now serving for the set.

15:29
Are Centre Court's celebrities NERVOUS about Djokovic's match?
15:26
Novak Djokovic* v Soon-woo Kwon 4-3 (3-6, 6-3)

This is far from easy going for Djokovic, but he is still managing to hold serve.

Kwon has a word to himself to make sure he is not overzealous in his forehand, but it is Djokovic who looks like he needs the energy here.

This really is not the Djokovic we know, with the Serb not able to respond to forehand strokes from Kwon and even mistiming backhand returns.

15:18
Novak Djokovic* v Soon-woo Kwon 3-2 (3-6, 6-3)

Is that a rare drop shot miss I hear you ask? Yes it is, and my confidence in Kwon against the Djokovic serve has gone with it.

But Djokovic does not appear engaged in the contest and is dragged back to deuce by the South Korean.

But the perilous situation brings the best out of him on this point, serving a 133mph serve on his second, and eventually turning break point into a game for him.

15:16
RIATH AL-SAMARRAI: This is getting increasingly dangerous for Novak Djokovic on Centre Court

This is getting increasingly dangerous for Djokovic on Centre, the Daily Mail's Riath Al-Samarrai writes.

Quite aside from Soonwoo Kwon playing the match of his life, the Korean now has the crowd on his side.

They're loving his mix of power (his forehand is a rocket) and finesse (he is fond of a drop shot).

Djokovic, meanwhile, is having a horrible time – plenty of unforced errors and his serve has been way off. Surely it won't stay this way…

15:12
Novak Djokovic v Soon-woo Kwon* 2-2 (3-6, 6-3)

The commentators are like me becoming very interested in just how many drop shot Kwon is hitting and perfecting in all honesty.

Djokovic meanwhile can't get his game at the net right this time, but Kwon really does here.

He unleashes some glorious forehands which take the cover off the ball before finishing the point with the deftness of a volley.

He seals the game with another stunning forehand down the line, and suddenly he appears in the ascendancy.

15:09
Novak Djokovic* v Soon-woo Kwon 2-1 (3-6, 6-3)

And in response the Serb responds with minimum fuss, ending the game with a fantastic smash.

15:06
Novak Djokovic v Soon-woo Kwon* 1-1 (3-6, 6-3)

Djokovic is disgusted with himself that he hits what is by his high standards a fairly regulation forehand wide.

But the class of man means he perfects it the following point, but is no less frustrated with his casual return which again is overhit.

There's a worried Goran Ivanisevic looking on to, with Djokovic seemingly losing patience by hitting a forehand into the net after a rare long rally.

15:00
Novak Djokovic* v Soon-woo Kwon 1-0 (3-6, 6-3)

The noise of the rain teeming down outside has changed the acoustics in Centre Court, almost like a drum against the roof.

But it has not stemmed Kwon's enthusiasm, and Djokovic almost seems relieved when Kwon's fierce backhand is just called out.

Kwon is pushing him to his limits again here, but the Serb manages to steady the ship and get his nose in front.

Cries of 'Novak, Novak' then come from members of the crowd, trying to provide him with the energy he needs to see him through.

Torrential rain in Wimbledon is so loud you can HEAR it bouncing off Centre Court roof... bringing outdoor matches to a halt a second time
14:55
Novak Djokovic v Soon-woo Kwon* 3-6 (6-3)

One set all…

Kwon's nerves show as he overhits two rudimentary strokes to go 0-30 down.

But he does spectacularly to get back into the game after Djokovic's slice had clipped the net.

And that becomes 0-30 after a mesmerising forehand which Djokovic gave up on after it left the racket.

Kwon has described those drops shots and after another successful one and a long Djokovic return he lets out a yelp in celebration. We're all square.

BREAKING NEWS: Second medical incident at Centre Court as crowd whistles at umpire for attention... bringing knife-edge Djokovic match to ANOTHER halt

Another stoppage for what appears to be another medical emergency in the crowd.

The stewards were on the scene very quickly, not long after the first person was escorted out of Centre Court.

14:46
Novak Djokovic v Soon-woo Kwon* 2-5 (6-3)

Heart in mouth moment for Djokovic fans as he slips and nearly does the splits when attempting to return a Kwon backhand.

But he shows no ill effects from the fall, showing great depth to make it back to 30-15. However, there is nothing even he can do with Kwon's backhand drop shot that bounces just inside the court, and the South Korean is now just a game away from making it 1-1.

14:44
Novak Djokovic* v Soon-woo Kwon 2-4 (6-3)

We don't often say this, but Djokovic is somewhat rattled in his first match of a tournament.

A double fault brings Kwon his first point and the South Korean is starting to read the wider serve before delivering some stunning returns into the world No 3.

But the defending champion can make any statement look silly, as he wins the next two points to take the game with brilliant wide serves and classy winners when necessary.

14:38
Novak Djokovic v Soon-woo Kwon* 1-4 (6-3)

In answer to my last question, yes it is.

Kwon doesn't hold on to that advantage for long, smashing serves into the net and ultimately unable to execute the deft shots.

But Djokovic's uncharacteristic errors invite the aggressive Kwon to come forward and he saves all three break points with some stunning backhands.

An ace then secures the game, and this is the first time Djokovic has appeared in any real trouble.

14:34
Novak Djokovic* v Soon-woo Kwon 1-3 (6-3)

KWON BREAKS!

For all of his faults today, Kwon's forehand is extremely aesthetically pleasing and maybe the style gods are on his side as he races into a 0-40 lead, thanks to some uncharacteristic errors from Djokovic on the backhand.

A girl in Kwon's box goes absolutely crazy after 0-40, and claps enthusiastically after he confirms the break.

It's that fear of Novak hitting back though, right?

14:31
Novak Djokovic v Soon-woo Kwon* 1-2 (6-3)

Some brilliant self-defence from Kwon there, who has to act in self-defence after being blasted with a powerful forehand and backhand from the Serb.

It comes at the end of another quick service game, which saw just the slightest hint of frustration from Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic* v Soon-woo Kwon 1-1 (6-3)

He nonchalantly gets through another service game with little more than a dent made by Kwon.

That break between sets has worked for Kwon, ending a run of losing five games in a row here.

But it is not without Djokovic's own piece of magic, hitting a drop shot from Kwon from a seemingly impossible angle in.

If that's the brilliance to come, you have to feel for Kwon…

Novak Djokovic* v Soon-woo Kwon 6-3

He hasn't lost here since 2017 and it looks like it is going to take something very special from Kwon to make that run end today.

It wasn't the cleanest service game from Djokovic, but he forced Kwon into enough uncomfortable situations to win the points and win the set inside 33 minutes.

14:15
British wildcard Jodie Burrage comes to the aid of a poorly Wimbledon ball boy by feeding him PERCY PIGS... before crashing out to Lesia Tsurenko in a first round, straight sets defeat

Plenty of brownie points and even some Percy Pigs for Jodie Burrage on Court 18.

Unfortunately, after helping a stricken ball boy, the 23-year-old became the first British casualty of this year’s Championships. Twice, her first-round clash with Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko was held up.

First by the rain and then by a medical emergency. Either side of the delays, Burrage was beaten in straight sets, labouring in a 6-2 6-3 defeat.

But she exits with plaudits aplenty for her quick-thinking early in set two.

14:13
Novak Djokovic v Soon-woo Kwon* 5-3

DJOKOVIC TO SERVE FOR THE SET

Compared to the (surprisingly) emotionless Djokovic, Kwon is not hiding his, looking at the sky after hitting the first serve of the game into the net.

But he recovers well from 0-15 down, but the bad fortune is not over for him, as Djokovic's slice clips the top of the net and goes over.

There is the common raising of the hands in apology afterwards but there is nothing apologetic from the Serb when he gets another break point.

Even a slight slip in his footwork cannot make him waste it, and from 3-1 down he now serves for the first set.

14:11
Novak Djokovic* v Soon-woo Kwon 4-3

That confident Djokovic swagger is back after getting back on serve, barely looking at Kwon's overhit shot and casually walking back to the baseline after it was called out.

You sense now the Serb is coming to life in these baseline exchanges and he comfortably swats Kwon aside in this game, balancing power with sheer elegance.

14:05
Novak Djokovic v Soon-woo Kwon* 3-3

We all knew it was coming right?

Few long rallies in this one and that trend continues, with Kwon very much going for the jugular in everything he does.

Djokovic hits the net from a brilliant serve but then Kwon is dragged back to 15-15 with a wide backhand.

Just as I say that, we get the longest rally of 16 shots, which ends following some more fantastic movement from Djokovic with Kwon hitting the net.

The Serb then achieves break point after Kwon can only find the net when the point appeared to be his.

And another long shot from Kwon restores parity.

Novak Djokovic* v Soon-woo Kwon 2-3

Lovely disguise on these drop shots from Kwon, who is testing the range and power of Djokovic's shots early on here.

But this style of play is open to shots being overhit, as Kwon does after a fine two-handed backhand from the Serb.

And Djokovic uses the court brilliantly to win one point before serving the game out with an ace.

Very short points being played at the moment, but it is the South Korean who leads.

13:57
Novak Djokovic v Soon-woo Kwon* 1-3

Yep, I have never seen more aces at the start of the match than right now.

But something we did not know Kwon had in his locker based on his backhand is a delightful drop shot on the forehand, which he executes to perfection.

But the aggressive style is working, and Kwon holds following a Djokovic shot which is long.

13:54
Novak Djokovic* v Soon-woo Kwon 1-2

DJOKOVIC BROKEN!

Djokovic and Kwon seem to be engaging in a battle to see who can serve the most aces as well as in the bigger picture of winning a match at Wimbledon.

The Serb serves one first up here, but is then pegged back by some aggressive play and forehands for the South Korean, who earns two break points as a result.

A similar shot then sees Kwon take a surprise lead. That wasn't in the script.

13:51
Novak Djokovic v Soon-woo Kwon* 1-1

Kwon says anything you can do, I can do as well, delivering an ace on the first point of the game. Sadly for him the net then becomes his enemy following a double fault.

Djokovic seems particularly keen on the backhand slice but an overhit effort sees Kwon avoid facing break point after the South Korean had overhit a forehand.

But Kwon's serve is equally as prevalent, repeating the first couple of points in the game, following an ace up with a slammed backhand into the net.

Eventually though a couple of devastating blows into Djokovic's body is enough to win him the game.

13:47
Novak Djokovic* v Soon-woo Kwon 1-0

The first point of the match is won by the South Korean but the Serb strikes back with some excellent serving and devastating forehands. But Kwon drags himself back from 40-15 down with an excellent backhand passing shot and a Djokovic error to get it to deuce.

No sweat for the Serb though, who delivers another ace and another brilliant stroke to seal the opening game.

How Novak Djokovic has hit headlines more for his Covid anti-vaxx stance than his tennis this past year: Serb former world No1 prepares for Centre Court match against South Korea's Soon-woo Kwon

Novak Djokovic has hit the headlines more for his anti-vaxx policy rather than winning tennis matches over the past 12 months, MailOnline's Kishan Vaghela writes.

His US Open final defeat by Daniil Medvedev last year has almost been forgotten given what occurred on the eve of the Australian Open, dramatically kicked out of the country after seeing his appeal against his visa cancellation dismissed.

There were encouraging signs at Roland Garros this year but ultimately he came up against the clay court master in Rafa Nadal, losing the quarter-final tie to the Spaniard despite a remarkable fightback in the second set.

The Serb would no doubt have been deflated by seeing Nadal increase his lead in the Grand Slam title race over him to two at the French Open, but the grass surface has very much been Djokovic's domain in recent years.

Matteo Berrettini found that out following the world No 3's victory in the final at SW19 last year, and now his bid to defend his crown starts against Soon-woo Kwon from South Korea.

But of greater importance will be the bigger picture, in which he hopes to make waves again for what is happening on the court, and hoping to equal Pete Sampras' seven Wimbledon titles this year.

Will the rain throw off Spaniard Pablo Andujar's storming second set?

Well that's given Norrie something to think about, MailOnline's Kishan Vaghela writes.

Andujar wins his first game of the match, producing some devastating passing shots to reply to the questions posed by the British No1,

Sadly though for the Spaniard he cannot continue his momentum, with play stopped with the rain really coming down on Court No2.

Andujar exchanges a few words with the umpires and is keen to get back out there, but the groundsmen are on to cover the pitch and the players head off the court.

The crowd get into it too, with the groundsmen making a mess of their first attempt to cover the pitch. Well, you can't say the players have not been treated to everything great about Britain…

Cameron Norrie is cruising with 5-0 lead over Spanish rival Pablo Andujar... while Jodie Burrage is broken on a double fault in 2-3 first set

Contrasting fortunes so far for the Brits, MailOnline's Kishan Vaghela writes.

Cameron Norrie is cruising, and is one game away from taking the first. Andujar is playing right into Norrie's arch and the Brit is responding with clean hitting and plenty of energy.

But on Court 18, Burrage has been broken on a double fault and then blew two points to immediately break back against Tsurenko.

Crowds are back at the same levels as 2019 after the cancellation year and heavy restrictions of 12 months ago.

A big day for the Brits, many of whom have winnable draws.

I am hopeful that Andy Murray can make a decent run here, and am hearing he has been extremely sharp in practice.

Cameron Norrie gears up for 11am first-round clash: British men's No1 prepares for match agains Spain's Pablo Andujar

Cameron Norrie and Jodie Burrage are about to walk out on to court to begin the British involvement at Wimbledon, and both come into it with contrasting fortunes, MailOnline's Kishan Vaghela writes.

British men's No 1 Norrie has not had an ideal start to the grass court season, going just 1-2 in the warm-up tournaments.

But in truth Andujar should provide him with few problems, with the Spaniard having a 4-16 win/loss record on the surface.

Burrage's confidence meanwhile received a massive boost as she overcame Badosa at Eastbourne and set a new career-high ranking as a result. The wildcard faces a seasoned pro in Tsurenko but it should hopefully be an excellent start to the day for fans of British tennis.

World No1 Daniil Medvedev was as diplomatic as he could be on the ban, saying he could understand the stance taken by the All England Club while also labelling it 'unfair.'

Rise of Raducanu: How British teenager Emma won over the hearts of the nation in her astonishing run at Wimbledon last year... before captivating the world with her US Open victory

Emma Raducanu's dramatic triumph at Flushing Meadows last year caught the imagination of the British public, but it was at these Championships last year where she first really gripped the nation, MailOnline's Kishan Vaghela writes.

She dispatched of respected stars like Market Vondrousova and Sorana Cirstea on her way to the round of 16 in 2021, but eventually had to retire from her fourth round match on Court Number 1 against Ajla Tomljanovic.

She returns a very different player now, as much for her US Open title as for the numerous injuries she has suffered since, the latest of which is a side strain from which some doubt she has fully recovered.

But it is easy to forget given her rise in the last 12 months that her match against Alison Van Uytvanck will be her first time on the main area at SW19.

Last year's men's singles champion Novak Djokovic opens up on Centre Court as tradition dictates, with the world No 3 expected to begin his bid for a seventh title at SW19 with a win against Soon-woo Kwon, the South Korean currently sat 81st in the ATP rankings.

The Serb - who has resigned himself to missing the US Open later this year due to his refusal to get vaccinated against Covid-19 - is then followed by British heavyweights Emma Raducanu and Andy Murray.

The 19-year-old US Open champions insists she is ready to go despite concerns she is still suffering from the effects of picking up a side strain, and faces a tough opponent in Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck, who has had an excellent start to the grass court season.

Two-time champion Murray meanwhile faces Australia's James Duckworth and has extra motivation to do well at Wimbledon, promising to donate any prize money he receives to victims of the war in Ukraine this year.

They will not be the first Brits in action however, with British men's No1 Cameron Norrie first up on Court 2 against Spain's Pablo Andujar, while Jodie Burrage - who produced a shock result by beating world No 4 Paula Badosa at Eastbourne last week - plays Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine on Court 18 at 11am.

'We used to stand and queue for Centre Court for five shillings': Veteran Wimbledon fan and retired GP, 71, reveals she has queued every year for on-the-day tickets for SIXTY YEARS

Veteran Wimbledon fan and retired GP Maggie Wright, 71, said she has been joining the queue for premium on-the-day tickets for 60 years.

Ms Wright, from Lowestoft, Suffolk, who was camping in the queue with her daughter Henrietta Braithwaite, 30, said: 'We used to stand and queue for Centre Court for five shillings, I think it was.

'Initially you didn't have to queue overnight and then it was on the pavement, and I think we really were the diehard fans because there would be cars all night flashing their lights at us - terrible.

'It's very quiet this year, but it's always great because you always meet people from around the world and you never know who you're going to be next to.

'Everyone's really friendly and helpful. It is a great part of the experience.

'The worst thing about the queue is finding somewhere to shower, and the best part is everything else.'

Does he know that Federer's not playing? Italian superfan with tattoo of Roger on his calf flies from Italy and camps for three nights to be at the front of the queue for tickets tomorrow... after Swiss tennis star was not included in draw following knee surgery

Roger Federer superfan Danilo Criscuolo flew from Napoli in Italy and camped for three nights to make the front of Wimbledon's famous queue for Tuesday tickets.

The 30-year-old, a car rental administrator, told the PA news agency: 'It was a very long trip because we were two hours delayed from the start, and there was another two hours of delay for the luggage.

'But when I saw for the first time the grass of the Wimbledon park, I lost all my bad vibes - only good vibes.'

Baring a tattoo of Federer on his calf, he joked: 'I have a portrait here of Roger Federer but I don't have a portrait of my wife - he is more important than my wife.'

Tennis legend Novak Djokovic is set to play at Wimbledon's Centre Court today... following the Serb's Covid anti-vaxx rows

Djokovic will play at Wimbledon's Centre Court today, following a row over whether unvaccinated stars should be allowed to compete.

Twenty-time Slam winner Djokovic, who has made clear he is not vaccinated against Covid, was barred from playing at the Australian Open back in January and booted out of the country by the Government.

Djokovic was allowed to compete at the French Open after organisers in Paris dropped all Covid restrictions.

But with another Covid-19 row looming at the US Open in September, this is an important tournament for Djokovic in the race to be grand slam king.

And are there any other Brits competing at this year's Wimbledon?

Besides Raducanu and Sir Andy, other Britons playing at Wimbledon this year include Cameron Norrie, Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal, Heather Watson, Harriet Darta, Katie Swan and Jodie Burrage.

Any more Murray magic this year? Sir Andy goes into Wimbledon with abdominal strain as British star eyes up third singles victory at SW19

Murray skipped all-but one tournament in the clay-court season in order to prepare for Wimbledon and it looked like a wise decision as he made the final of an ATP Tour event in Stuttgart.

He suffered an injury in that defeat to 2021 SW19 runner-up Matteo Berrettini, but having said his recovery had 'gone well', the former world number one will have eyes on his best run at a grand slam since his hip injury derailed his career in 2016.

The two-time Wimbledon singles champion has only been past the second round once in eight attempts as tough draws and poor performances have hindered him.

But this is Murray's happy hunting ground and he will realistically be eyeing a run to the second week, which would be some achievement for a player with a metal hip.

Sue's last outing: Wimbledon legend Barker to step down as presenter of the BBC's coverage after 30 years because she 'wants to leave on a high'

As the face of the BBC's Wimbledon coverage, she has been a cheerfully reassuring presence in our living rooms every summer for 30 years.

Now Sue Barker has decided it is time to hang up her microphone – so this year's championships, starting on June 27, will be her last.

The 66-year-old presenter was offered a three-year extension by the BBC to stay.

But after several months of careful consideration, she has opted to retire while 'still on top' of her game having forged a career as one of the country's leading TV presenters.

'Basically I just feel the time is right. It has been my dream job and I have loved every minute of it, working with so many great colleagues who I am going to miss so much,' she told the Daily Mail.

This year, Wimbledon has barred Russian and Belarusian players in response to the invasion of Ukraine.

Emma's big day... British starlet Raducanu stages her Wimbledon comeback in tough first round match against Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck

Eyes will be on British player Emma Raducanu after she made history last summer as the first qualifier to win the US Open.

But things will be a little bit different for the teenage US Open champion this year, who is nursing a side strain.

Raducanu, fresh from completing her A-Levels, became the youngest British player to make it to the fourth round at SW19 and things only got better from there as two months later she incredibly won the US Open.

The 19-year-old achieved all that success without having established herself on the regular tour and it has been tough since as injuries, defeats and a raft of coaching changes have made it a difficult introduction to life as a professional.

And Raducanu has played just 33 minutes of action on the grass after sustaining a side strain in her first warm-up match at Nottingham ahead of facing the tricky Alison Van Uytvanck.
