New York City gyms, including those on Staten Island, re-opened for business this past week following a 5 1/2-month hiatus due to the pandemic.
Still, NYC gyms can only operate at 33% capacity and there are several protocols in place, including, mandatory mask-wearing, sign-in sheets and health screenings at the door, and the installation of special air filters in the ventilation systems.
As for face masks, not any old face mask will do for hardcore workout folks. You will need a heavy-duty face mask that will let you breathe easily while working out and sweating off those COVID-19 calories.
SILive/Advance has scoured the web for the best face masks and deals and this is what we came up with.
Under Armour's "Sportsmask" face mask originally sold out in less than an hour after it went on sale. It is back with another batch, this time in three new colors, including the red seen here. (Screenshot via Under Armour).

The Under Armour Sportsmask is ready to be pre-ordered on UA’s website.

The original colors (black, charcoal and silver chrome were a big hit, but UA has since added three new colors (pitch gray, midnight navy and red.)

2) Reebok
Reebok’s sports face covering is just as nifty looking as Under Armour’s Sportsmask. A 3-pack sells for just $20.

The sportswear company is selling a three-pack of face masks for $16. It comes in two colors -- blue bird and black.

OTHERS
Also, this Sparthos Workout Mask, sold on Amazon.com, is a top seller, but the face mask will put you out close to $50. But considering the mask is built for high altitude elevation simulation for the gym, cardio, fitness, running, endurance and HIIT training it may be well worth it.
This FITGAME Workout Mask is also selling fast on Amazon and costs around $45.
