Khari Blasingame, Chandler Brewer ready to play in NFL

Minnesota Vikings v Buffalo Bills

Two former Alabama high school standouts joined NFL active rosters on Wednesday, making them eligible to play in league games. Running back/fullback Khari Blasingame from Buckhorn High School signed with the Tennessee Titans, and offensive tackle Chandler Brewer from Florence High School moved up with the Los Angeles Rams.

Neither player was drafted in April, but each had been on an NFL practice squad all season -- Blasingame with the Vikings and Brewer with the Rams.

By signing with the Tennessee, Blasingame returns to Nashville, where he played for Vanderbilt in college.

During the preseason, Blasingame ran for 20 yards and a touchdown on eight carries and caught eight passes for 68 yards and two touchdowns for the Vikings.

The Titans signed Blasingame after they released running back Rod Smith. The five-year NFL veteran had played in three games for Tennessee in 2019, getting on the field for 39 special-teams plays.

Brewer steps up for the Rams with their offensive line affected by injuries.

Los Angeles coach Sean McVay announced on Monday that Rob Havenstein, the starting right offensive tackle, would be sidelined this week because of a knee injury sustained in Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rams starting center Brian Allen suffered a medial collateral ligament injury in the game, and Los Angeles has determined the knee injury won’t allow the center to play anymore this season.

Brewer played his college football at Middle Tennessee.

The Rams play the Chicago Bears in the NFL's Sunday night game for Week 11 in Los Angeles.

The Titans are on their bye week. Tennessee's next game is on Nov. 24 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
