AYER — A 51-year-old Leominster man suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a train in Ayer at around 12:50 p.m. Friday, according to Transit Police.

The man’s injuries were described as serious but not life threatening, according to Richard Sullivan, superintendent of the Transit Police Department.

The man, who was transported to an area hospital, has not been identified by authorities.

Middlesex District Attorney’s Office personnel were on scene to investigate the accident along with TPD detectives. No foul play is suspected and the investigation remains ongoing.
