Cheers! California Winery Unveils Marijuana-Infused Wine

Would you like a glass of pot-infused Sauvignon Blanc with your meal?

SONOMA, CA -- Would you like a glass of pot-infused Sauvignon Blanc with your meal? A Sonoma-based winery unveiled this week a pot-infused wine complete with a "pleasant marijuana aroma" in advance of the Jan. 1 date when the recreational use of the drug becomes legal in the state.

Rebel Coast Winery, an award-winning winery in the state's Wine Capital, announced the launch of its premium Sauvignon Blanc, the "world’s first legal cannabis-infused, alcohol-removed wine," the company said in a press release.

The patent-pending product has four milligrams of tetrahydrocannabinol, a chemical compound in cannabis, per serving and on average affects consumers in under 15 minutes, the company said.

“If you’ve ever enjoyed a glass of wine or marijuana, you’re in luck,” said Chip Forsythe, CEO and founder of Rebel Coast. “We wanted to excite the rebellious spirit in Americans through innovation, so we took two world-class California products – marijuana and wine – and created a patent-pending process that resulted in a delicious, crisp and elegantly crafted Sauvignon Blanc that’s teed up to be a game changer for the wine and cannabis industries.”

Alex Howe, co-founder of the winery, said the new offering is a premium product that is to "be enjoyed by the masses.”

But, the company doesn't plan to stop at just marijuana-infused Sauvignon Blanc. The owners are working on creating a pot-infused Rosé and champagne.

Any wine and marijuana lovers older than 21 can pre-order a bottle of this Sauvignon Blanc for $59.99. Orders are expected to be sent out in early 2018.

The company said the wine will be distributed through 500 marijuana dispensaries across the country.
