The School District of Palm Beach County is recruiting independent volleyball officials to officiate under a newly assembled Palm Beach County volleyball association sanctioned by the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA).
The move comes after the FHSAA terminated the East Coast Volleyball Officials Association’s (ECVOA) sanction for what FHSAA calls a violation of policies.
According to a Palm Beach County School Board statement, high school principals throughout the District reached out to community members in an effort to locate qualified individuals to step in and officiate; so far more than 90 individuals have stepped forward.
Next week, the School District’s Athletic Department expects to release a partial schedule for the next few weeks of the season.
