Plastic surgeon and medical influencer Dr. Anthony Youn creates content that answers commonly asked questions and helps to debunk the kind of medical misinformation and dangerous challenges that can rapidly go viral on platforms like TikTok.

In a new short video released on his YouTube channel, Youn shares a simple, tried-and-true way of telling if your hairline might be receding, and all you need is a ruler.

"In women, the distance between the brow to the hairline is about 5 to 6 cm, normally," he says. "In men, that distance is about 6 to 8 cm. So I measure about 6 cm. So stop throwing shade on my luscious hair!"

If you try this test for yourself and find that your hairline is receding or thinning, don't worry: it's not the end of the world. While it's true that for many guys, experiencing hair loss can have a very real negative impact on their confidence and self-image, there are a number of ways to deal with the situation.

For instance, men's style blogger Ben Arthur has outlined the different tactics he has employed to disguise his own receding hairline, including experimenting with different haircuts, styles, products, and even hair color.

"A lot of it has to do with where you're thinning, and what your hairline and head shape looks like," trichologist Bridgette Hall told Men's Health. "Don’t think in terms of hiding—think in terms of adding volume."

Plenty of other men have decided to go in the complete opposite direction and lean in, shaving their heads and starting over. It's a look that has worked for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Terry Crews, Jason Statham, and Channing Tatum. Maybe it'll work for you too.
