Film Producer Mace Neufeld Dies At 93

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Film producer Mace Neufeld, known for his work on "Hunt for Red October" and "The Equalizer," died overnight Thursday in his Beverly Hills home.

He died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 93, his wife Diane Conn told the Los Angeles Times.

Neufeld was working on multiple projects when he died, including a third "Equalizer" and another Tom Clancy series for Amazon Prime Video, Deadline reported.

Neufeld had a nearly 50 year run in the film industry. His first big hit, "The Omen," was one of the highest-grossing movies in 1976, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Neufeld saw success more recently producing iterations of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan in 1990 and in 2018 with Amazon. Neufeld has been recognized with many awards, including the Critics' Choice Award, and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Before his time in the film industry, Neufeld worked as a song writer.

People are encouraged to make donations to City of Hope, a cancer treatment and research center, and Hope for Depression Research Foundation in lieu of sending flowers, according to Deadline.
