MONTGOMERY, AL β€” This past week saw the number of new COVID-19 cases in Alabama drop significantly, as the state reported the lowest weekly total of new cases in more than a month. The week-long average for cases in Alabama this past week fell to 1,364.

To put that into perspective, in mid-July the 7-day average was nearly 1,900. In the last two weeks, the state has confirmed 19,761 cases.

Almost a month has passed since Gov. Kay Ivey announced the statewide face-covering order, and since then, the average daily new case total has seen a steady fall.
