A campus visit by Donald Trump Jr. has led to impeachment efforts against University of Florida’s student government president.

The university’s student senate passed a resolution Tuesday calling for Michael Murphy’s impeachment for “malfeasance and abuse of power.” The resolution said Murphy colluded with Trump campaign officials to spend $50,000 of mandatory student fees to sponsor an October visit by the president’s son and his girlfriend, ex-Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle.

The resolution was obtained by the Tampa Bay Times.

Regulations prohibit student government activity and service fees from being used to support a political party.

The Alligator, UF’s independent student newspaper, released emails that showed Murphy worked to arrange the visit with Carolina Wren, national financial consultant of Trump Victory, the president’s 2020 re-election committee.

Furthermore, the resolution claims Murphy “endangered students marginalized by the speakers’ white nationalist supporters” and “abused his power to advance a particular political party.”

UF students pay about $500 a year in activity fees.
