Someone grab some drawing pins because we're about to make the mother of all Making A Murderer-inspired wall maps to solve the mystery of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's dog.

Why? Because something smells fishy.

You'll all remember that when Meghan Markle met Prince Harry in 2016, she had two rescue dogs, Guy and Bogart, who regularly appeared on her now defunct Instagram account.

However, when she made the move to the UK ahead of her royal engagement, she was forced to leave Bogart at home in Canada due to old age, and moved Guy across the Atlantic to split his time between the couple's home at Nottingham Cottage and their Cotswolds retreat.

And while we may no longer have a Instagram account to check on the whereabouts of her pups (a royal press secretary previously revealed Bogart would be living with 'very good friends'), we did spot Guy recently riding in style with the Queen ahead of the royal wedding.

Now, following the couple's wedding at St George's Chapel, Windsor on 19 May, it was widely reported they had adopted a new black Labrador called Oz.

'The dog is already happily ensconced at their cottage, ' a royal source told The Daily Mail.

Last month, however, a woman who resembled Meghan was photographed near Kensington Palace with a dog (which wasn't a black lab, FYI). Despite the reporter who tweeted the photo claiming she spoke with the woman, whom she was certain was Markle, the palace denied the claims.

Confused yet? Oh, you will be.

Yesterday afternoon, Meghan and Harry made their first official visit to Sussex - a county of which they are now duke and duchess - and were presented with a drawing of a dog which was believed to be of Guy.

Sharon Marks, chair of trustees at Survivors' Network, exclusively told ELLE UK: '[Meghan] definitely recognised it was Guy, and pointed out the freckles on his legs and paws.'

However, Vanity Fair reports that on examining the portrait, the duchess confirmed her new dog is a 'she', but said that people keep 'getting her name wrong'.

So, this would mean that the new dog isn't named Oz. It also throws into question whether the new pup is actually a black lab and could be proof that the woman claimed to be in that tweet last month was in fact the royal.

Damn, we've run out of pins! This is going to be a hard case to crack.
