Area volleyball roundup: Huskies capture Thunder Nation title

LAKE ANDES -- Bridgewater-Emery knocked off Scotland 2-1 to claim the Thunder Nation Tournament title on Saturday. Set scores were 22-25, 25-22 and 25-12.

In the semifinals, Bridgewater-Emery defeated Corsica-Stickney (25-21, 25-22). Scotland beat Andes Central/Dakota Christian (25-22, 22-25, 12-25) in the other semifinal match.

Bridgewater-Emery (23-6) hosts Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Friday in Emery. Scotland (13-10) hosts Hanson today.

Kimball/White Lake 3, Parkston 0

PARKSTON -- Kimball/White Lake swept Parkston in straight sets in a prep volleyball match on Saturday. Set scores were 25-20, 25-20 and 25-20.

Kimball/White Lake (9-12): Grace Konechne led KWL with 13 kills and seven digs. Dani Deffenbaugh added 11 kills, 10 digs and two blocks. Kennedy Leiferman finished with 12 digs, six kills and three aces. Ryann Nielsen posted 31 assists. The WiLdKats host Andes Central/Dakota Christian today in White Lake.

Parkston (13-14): Maggie Baumgart led the Trojans with six kills and four blocks. Amber Albrecht posted three kills and eight digs. Tiah Holzbauer posted four kills and six digs. Allison Ziebart added eight digs. Faith Oakley finished with eight assists, six digs and four aces. C.C. Neugebauer posted nine assists and seven digs. Parkston plays Bon Homme on Tuesday in Tyndall.
