The Queen is on the look out to find a full time gardener to look after the gardens at Buckingham Palace and St James' Palace.

Wages will start at £17,000 depending on the successful applicant's experience, but there's so many added benefits too. The chosen gardener will also receive an impressive 15 per cent employer contribution pension scheme, as well as paid-for accommodation and meals provided - however this will have an impact on the salary.

"The Gardens and Grounds team care for and present gardens that are seen by thousands of visitors and guests every year," the job description reads.

The job is five days a week and includes mowing the grass, raking, re-seeding and 'top dressing' dry patches, in addition to planting new shrubs for flower displays and maintaining rose borders.

A passion for horticulture is absolutely essential for any successful candidates, as well as relevant experience and a great knowledge of plants - of course.

The necessary qualifications include a Horticulture NVQ 2, a clean C1 UK driving license and experience in using garden machinery.

"We're a busy team, so self-discipline and time management skills are vital. Working closely with colleagues will be important to you, and you'll have the skills to communicate with a range of people," the job description continues.

"With initiative and a confident approach, you'll also be keen to research and explore new ideas for developing the gardens and grounds."
