A gas leak has forced a power outage at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), according to Hydro-Québec.
The cut in power was ordered just after 11 a.m. Monday.
“There was an emergency call from 911 about a gas leak,” explained Maxence Huard-Lefebvre, a Hydro-Québec spokesperson.
“When we receive this kind of emergency call, we stop power on the power lines.”
The gas leak was reported in Hampstead, leaving about 8,000 customers without power for a few minutes.
“The problem seems to be solved because we are putting back the power in the lines right now,” Huard-Lefebvre confirmed.
Hydro-Québec said it is working to reestablish power; it should be restored within the hour.
