Authorities searching for missing Connecticut mother Jennifer Dulos on Wednesday scoured a reservoir about a half-mile from the home of her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, a report said.
State police dogs and investigators searched the Metropolitan District reservoir property in West Hartford, but didn’t say what, if anything, they found there, the Hartford Courant reported.
About a half-mile of woods separate the reservoir and Fotis’ home — which was searched by police in June, following Jennifer’s May 24 disappearance.
The search comes a day after Fotis — who has been charged in connection with his estranged wife’s disappearance — maintained his innocence in a sit-down interview with NBC 4 New York.
“I had my differences with Jennifer like many people do when they go through a marriage, but that doesn’t mean that I wish her ill in any way,” Fotis, a Connecticut real estate developer, told the station.
“I know what I’ve done, I know what I haven’t done. I have to stand and fight and hope the truth is going to come out.”
Fotis has five children with Jennifer, and the couple was embroiled in a contentious divorce and custody battle when Jennifer vanished.
In a statement Wednesday, Fotis lamented the public image of him as a “monster.”
“I understand the public’s perception of me as a monster given the little they know about the case, but I trust the system and the process and ask the public to do the same,” he told the Courant. “I believe I have been and will continue to be treated fairly by the criminal justice system. Please keep my children and Jennifer in your thoughts.”
Fotis and his girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, were arrested for allegedly dumping garbage bags containing items stained with Jennifer’s blood after her disappearance.
Prosecutors said Fotis’ DNA was found mixed with Jennifer’s blood on a faucet inside her New Canaan home.
Fotis and Troconis have pleaded not guilty to charges of hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence in the case. Both are free on bail.
