Doctor who ran illegal plastic-surgery clinic sentenced to three months

A doctor who ran an illegal Upper East Side plastic surgery practice that left a woman’s breasts disfigured was sentenced Wednesday to three months in jail and five year’s probation.

Nicholas Sewell, 75, previously copped to one count each of unauthorized practice of a profession and scheme to defraud as part of a plea deal. The sentence amounts to time served as Sewell was locked up for three months before posting bail.

Sewell and plastic surgeon Brad Jacobs, 56, performed more than 60 illegal operations at Allure Plastic Surgery Clinic at 150 E. 61st St. — even though Jacobs’ medical license was revoked in 2007 for misconduct.

His alleged transgression included smoking meth and sleeping with a patient who was recuperating from a nose job in 2003.

Jacobs also botched numerous procedures, including tummy tucks, liposuction and rhinoplasty, according to New York Attorney General Letitia James, whose office prosecuted the case.

The illegal clinic raked in hundreds of thousands of dollars between 2012 and 2016, charging patients $8,000 to $10,000 per procedure. The patients didn’t know that Jacobs, who once touted Playmates and models as clients, had no license.

A  patient sued the men in 2015 over a breast augmentation that she says resulted in infection and severe scarring. The case is still pending.

Jacobs was sentenced to three to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to grand larceny, scheme to defraud and two counts of unauthorized practice of medicine.

“Practicing medicine without a license jeopardizes the lives of New Yorkers, undermines our healthcare system, and diminishes the work of licensed doctors committed to the health and safety of their patients,” said Attorney General Letitia James in a previously released statement.

Both men faced up to 25 years in prison if convicted at trial.
