Martha Stewart recalls wearing hot pants to work on Wall Street

Martha Stewart has never been afraid to push boundaries.

The television host, 79, previously went viral for a sexy poolside photo and for showing off her legs in a short dress at last year’s Vanity Fair Oscars party.

Now, she’s reflecting on the wardrobe of her younger years as a stockbroker on Wall Street in the 1960s and 1970s — and it wasn’t all power suits and modest skirts.

Stewart told Harper’s Bazaar that she wore hot pants — shorts “where you see plenty of leg and a little bit of your butt,” as she explained — with an alligator belt and a tight, tucked-in sweater to the office.

“And I looked great in them. We would sit with our feet up on our desks, and I had high-heeled shoes on or boots. And that’s what we wore to work,” Stewart said.

Despite her sexy attire, Stewart says she was a force to be reckoned with.

“We were the real thing. You saw the movie ‘Wall Street?’ I lived it. I mean, every man on Wall Street was trying to get you. Every man was trying to touch you in the cab. We had martinis for lunch,” she said. “[I] was a modest girl. I did not f—k around, if you want to use that word.”

Eventually, Stewart decided that “the life of the homemaker was more interesting to me than the life on Wall Street,” and she traded in her hot pants and high heels for an apron and oven mitts.
