T.I.'s war against high fashion continued, after he added Burberry to the list of brands he wants his fans to boycott.
On Tuesday, Feb. 19, Burberry faced major backlash after it debuted a hoodie that featured a noose around the collar. Some saw the sweater as insensitive to victims and those affected by suicide, while others felt that that hoodie evoked racist imagery. Either way, T.I. is unhappy with the luxe fashion house, and took to Instagram to express his feelings.
"These aren't coincidences," T.I. wrote before hashtagging the brand Gucci, Prada, and Moncler, who've all come under fire for their recent use of racist images in their clothing.
While many are siding with T.I. and his war against the high fashion world, boxer Floyd Mayweather refused to participate in the Gucci boycott, which prompted T.I. to release a scathing diss track taking aim at Floyd. However, this pushback didn't seem to sway Money Mayweather as he recently posed for Instagram in a full Gucci drip.
Burberry meanwhile, issued an apology for the hoodie to CNN. “We are deeply sorry for the distress caused by one of the products that featured in our A/W 2019 runway collection,” Burberry’s Chief Executive Officer Marco Gobbetti said. “Though the design was inspired by the marine theme that ran throughout the collection, it was insensitive and we made a mistake.”
