The heart-warming story was revealed in a video featured on the Chinese Military Net on Wednesday.

According to the footage documenting Eighteen's rescue journey, the little brown pooch was discovered by a group of Chinese soldiers who were patrolling the border on Monday.

The officers found Eighteen abandoned in the snow with its siblings which had already died from the cold.

They decided to adopt the puppy as the soldiers put it inside a plastic bag and carried it back to the barracks.

After returning to the military base, Eighteen was given attentive care as it enjoyed a warm bath and even a gentle blow-dry afterwards.

The troopers also made clothes for the pup and built a doghouse with blankets inside to keep the little guy cosy.

Eighteen's story of finding its new home melted the hearts of millions after the footage was shared on China's Twitter-like Weibo.

One commenter gasped: 'It's so adorable! From now on, it will be a little soldier and protect our country.'

It seems like Eighteen is not the only furry officer in China.

In November, a heart-melting video became viral in China after a naughty puppy surprised its firefighter friend who is working out during a training session.

The adorable video, filmed in the Chinese city of Chengdu, shows the young dog running around the uniform officer before 'attacking' him with a kiss while the man is crawling on the ground on all fours.
