The Colorado Department of Transportation will close Interstate 25 at Colo. 402 for three hours Sunday night to place the deck on the new Colo. 402 bridge over I-25.

Detours will be available.

Both northbound and southbound I-25 will be closed from midnight to 3 a.m. Monday, according to a CDOT news release. Single-lane closures will start at 9 p.m. Sunday night. Then, from 3 to 5 a.m. Monday there will be single-lane closures again.

Northbound traffic will detour onto the Colo. 402 off-ramp (Exit 255), continue through the roundabout on the southeast Frontage Road and proceed onto the current northbound I-25 on-ramp at River Ranch Parkway. Southbound I-25 traffic will detour onto the Colo. 402 off-ramp (Exit 255) and turn south on County Road 7 to head east on County Road 48.

The work is part of interchange reconstruction intended to improve safety on I-25 by smoothing out the curve, adding pedestrian and bike facilities to allow safe crossings of I-25, according to CDOT.

It is part of the I-25 North Express Lanes: Johnstown to Fort Collins Project designed to increase capacity by adding an express lane in both directions, constructing inside and outside shoulders, and replacing aging bridges.

The project also will improve access to regional transit with new bus slip ramps from I-25 to the new Park-n-Ride at Kendall Parkway.

Work at Colo. 402 and I-25 started in September 2018, and the current work is scheduled to be completed in October. The full North I-25 Express Lanes project between Johnstown and Fort Collins is scheduled to continue through 2022.
