Liquidation sales are being held at 42 Sears and Kmart stores, reports say, the latest in a string of closings affecting the retail brand.

Transformco, parent company of Sears and Kmart, is planning to close around 100 stores in February and will likely close several more in the coming months.

Liquidation sales are popping up at Sears and Kmart stores across the country, signaling that more closures β€” one store in Georgia β€” may be on the way for the struggling retail brands.

These closures are in addition to the 96 stores that parent company Transformco said in November would close by this month. USA Today reports it found liquidation sales slated to continue into March and April at dozens of new stores throughout the nation.

Although a company spokesman did not confirm with USA Today the list of new stores expected to close, the publication named 28 Sears and 14 Kmart locations currently holding liquidation sales. Transformco has confirmed some of the closings to other media outlets, USA Today said.

According to USA Today’s list, after closing 3,500 stores in the past 15 years, the future could spell trouble for this Georgia store:

In November, Transformco announced it would close this Georgia store by early-to-mid-February, contributing to final tally of 96 closed stores in all states.

Following the February closures, Transformco now operates 182 Sears and Kmart stores nationwide. The closings do not affect the company's Sears Hometown stores, which specialize in home appliances, equipment and tools.
