PARSIPPANY, NJ — Grocery shoppers nationwide will soon feel fascinated, weirded out and intrigued by a new flavoring product hatched out of Parsippany. B&G Foods revealed that its Snickers Shakers Seasoning Blend will hit shelves this month around the U.S.
The Parsippany-based company partnered with candy conglomerate Mars, Incorporated to create a similar Twix seasoning last year. B&G foods also developed Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cinnadust — a seasoning that blends cinnamon with notes of caramel, vanilla and graham flavor.
The Snickers seasoning combines the chocolate, caramel and peanut flavors into a powdery substance to sweeten things up.
In a news release, B&G Foods recommended trying it with ice cream, cookies, milkshakes and yogurt. And a photo from the company shows the seasoning adorning some pancakes with bananas.
It's a high bar to develop a candy product weird enough to stand out, especially in a world with Sour Flush Toilet Candy, "Flavor of Texas" BBQ Peanut Caramel Bars and Thanksgiving Gumballs. But B&G Foods and Mars think they have a hit on their hands with Snickers seasoning.
"At Mars we are consumer obsessed and have noticed the clear desire that has emerged among consumers to be able to add the flavors of their favorite confections to both sweet and savory foods," Michelle Deignan, the company's senior brand manager, said in a statement. "We're pleased to partner with B&G Foods to allow consumers to experience the delicious and satisfying taste of SNICKERS® in a completely new, and shake-able, way with SNICKERS™ Shakers Seasoning Blend."
