After Fox News analyst Geraldo Rivera suggested naming coronavirus vaccinations in honor of President Trump, MSNBC host Brian Williams mocked the suggestion in a sarcastic Friday segment.

“It’s possible we just don’t give the President enough credit for FDR-like devotion to tackling this virus,” Williams said flatly, referencing President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Williams continued, insincerely praising Trump for his “laser-like focus, his daily devotion, the sympathy he’s forever expressing to the families of the quarter-million dead,” as images of the commander-in-chief golfing blanketed the screen.

As a clip flashed showing Trump ripping off his mask outside the White House after his bout with COVID-19, Williams exalted the President for “lecturing us — in that way — to please wear a mask.”

Trump has largely resisted covering his face during the pandemic and has repeatedly downplayed the danger of the virus.

“Geraldo may be onto something,” Williams said before naming a number of unsuccessful endeavors Trump has plastered his name onto: Trump Steaks, Trump Ice Natural Spring Water and Trump University.
