Update: FDNY responds to crash on Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A crash is snarling traffic on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge late in the Monday morning rush hour.

The FDNY was called at 9:23 a.m. for a crash on the span, according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS. Information about injuries is not yet available.

An earlier crash was reported on the lower level of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge during the Monday morning rush hour.

The left lane was blocked during the emergency response, according to Total Traffic NYC.

Traffic on the Gowanus Expressway clogged the Verrazzano, Brooklyn-bound.

Delays are extending on the Staten Island Expressway back to the West Shore Expressway.
