Wrong-Way Driver Accused Of Drunken Driving On Interstate 93

HOOKSETT, NH — A Seacoast woman was accused of wrong-way drunken driving on Sunday after New Hampshire State Police attempted to stop her vehicle on Route 101 and Interstate 93 north.

Around 1:10 a.m., troopers received reports of a wrong-way driver on Route 101 in Manchester. Troopers from both Troop B and Troop D attempted to intercept the car, according to Sgt. Vincent Grieco of Troop D.

"A short time later, an off-duty officer reported that the vehicle was observed traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of travel on Interstate 93 in Hooksett, NH, almost striking them head-on," he said.

A trooper was able to get close to the vehicle and deployed a tire deflation device on I-93 at the Hooksett Toll Plaza. The car was stopped by troopers at the Hooksett Rest Area, Grieco said.

Laura Anderson, 47, of Brentwood, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and reckless conduct. She was taken into protective custody and will be arraigned at a future date in Merrimack County Superior Court.
