Police issue warning about prom and graduation season after teen found passed out on Hingham road

With graduation and prom season in full swing, Hingham police shared a message of caution on Friday, recounting a recent near-tragedy on a road during the pre-dawn hours. A teenage college student was found “extremely drunk” and passed out in the road by a driver, according to police. The department shared a photo of the teen on the roadway and “blind hill.”“Tragedy avoided,” the department said.

Sgt. Steven Dearth told Boston.com the incident occurred on Monday on Cushing Street. Luckily, he said, the driver was paying attention and stopped when he saw the teen in the road.

The driver called 911 when they couldn’t get the teen to wake up.

The college student isn’t being cited or charged in connection to the incident.
