A North Carolina college student had seen items of clothing go missing, and now she knows why.

The student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro made a startling discovery on Saturday in her apartment near campus after she and her roommates initially feared a “ghost” was haunting them.

“It sounded like a raccoon in my closet,” Maddie told Fox 8. “I’m like, ‘Who’s there?’ And somebody answers me. He’s like, ‘Oh, my name is Drew.’ I open the door and he’s in there, wearing all of my clothes. My socks. My shoes. And he has a bookbag full of my clothes.”

Maddie called her boyfriend and tried to keep “Drew” occupied.

“He tries on my hat,” she told Fox 8. “He goes in the bathroom and looks in the mirror and then is like, ‘You’re really pretty, can I give you a hug?’ But he never touched me.”

Maddie told WFMY that Drew “was telling me everything about his life and basically how he got in my closet.”

The intruder left when Maddie’s boyfriend arrived, but he was later arrested. Andrew Swofford, 30, is facing a total of 25 charges, including breaking and entering, according to the State. He is being held in Guilford County Jail.

Maddie told the station there had been a previous incident in December when they found two strangers in the living room. She is planning on moving out, and has signed a lease for a different apartment, according to WFMY.

“Every time I go in [my room] there’s a bad vibe,” she told Fox 8. “I’m just ready to leave.”
