UPDATE, 5/3/2018: We all know that Paige Davis of Trading Spaces was NOT the one to make the comment about shiplap that had Fixer Upper fans all riled up back in January.

But Davis, along with Trading Spaces carpenter Ty Pennington, really wants everyone to know there is no rivalry between them and Chip and Joanna Gaines. "There's room for everybody," Davis said in a video for USA Today. "I would love for Chip and Joanna to be guest designers on our show!"

Hm ... so a possible Trading Spaces/Fixer Upper crossover? Yes, please!

Original, 1/18/2018: Not everyone loves Joanna Gaines's farmhouse style. Just ask TV personality Paige Davis, best known as the host of TLC's Trading Spaces.

With a reboot in the works, the cast, including Davis, Ty Pennington, Vern Yip, Frank Bielec, Hildi Santo-Tomas, and more, reunited for a panel at the Television Critics Association press tour Friday. And at some point during the discussion, Davis threw some blink-and-you'll-miss-it shade at the Fixer Upper star, The Wrap reports.

"I'm wondering if you are in agreement for certain types of design trends to disappear, and what some of your pet peeves are and some of the things that you have to talk homeowners out of — like, strongly — and steer them away from?" someone asked.

"Like shiplap?" Davis replied. The remark reportedly had the whole room laughing, probably in part because it seemed to be pointed at Gaines, who popularized the wooden boards on her show.

Of course, everyone's entitled to her own opinion — and Gaines herself probably wouldn't be offended by Davis's distaste for the design element. The HGTV host often sets aside her own style to tailor homes to her clients' preferences, and even she seems to be incorporating less shiplap in Season 5. Besides, she's likely too busy to be bothered by such comments, what with managing multiple businesses, raising four children, and expecting baby number five.

Davis predates the Gaineses and can actually be credited with helping create interest in home design shows in the first place, setting the stage for Chip and Jo.
