Cops ask for public’s help finding missing 14-year-old girl

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The NYPD seeks the public’s help to locate a 14-year-old girl who went missing from Fort Wadsworth.

Xochitl Flores-Mendez was last seen on Friday at about 7:45 a.m. leaving her home on the 1400 block of Bay Street, according to a statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.

She was reported missing on Tuesday.

Police described her as Hispanic, standing about 5′0″ tall and weighing 180 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair. She was seen wearing blue jeans and a gray sweat shirt.
