Ghislaine Maxwell could be back in New York in days, report says

Ghislaine Maxwell could be back in New York as soon as Sunday, but not necessarily in the Manhattan jail where her pedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein died, The Post has confirmed.

Instead, Maxwell, nabbed Thursday at a secluded New Hampshire estate after months on the run from child-sex-abuse charges, may be held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center before a possible court appearance early next week, according to law-enforcement sources.

Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide in August 2019 at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan.

US Attorney General William Barr “personally called” Manhattan prosecutors to warn that “no harm must come” to Maxwell, a source told the Daily Mail.

“After the debacle with Epstein, nothing can happen to her,” said the source, who added a plea deal is possible if Maxwell “has proof which will lead to the conviction of bigger fish.”

The feds pursued Maxwell from Colorado to Wyoming to New Hampshire during a “high-stakes game of cat-and-mouse” that cost millions, but didn’t kick into high gear until the feds secured an indictment against her 10 days before her arrest, the Mail’s source said.

The socialite was stunned when dozens of officers broke down the door to her hideaway, the source added.

“Maxwell was up and dressed, in the living room, wearing sweatpants . . . Strangely she didn’t seem to have much reaction . . . “She was turned around quickly and cuffed.”
