Ana Vitória Soares Cardoso found after lost in Brazilian rainforest for 4 days

A 4-year-old girl was found alive after she was lost for four days in the Brazilian rainforest, where she survived on fruits and river water, according to a report.

Ana Vitória Soares Cardoso was playing in a canoe with her sister when she vanished Dec. 29 in the northern rural town of Rio Maniva, the Telegraph reported.

Her family feared the worst since the girl doesn’t know how to swim and contacted authorities.

Amapá Fire Department officer Rosivaldo Andrade said emergency crews sent three divers to search the river for the missing child.

But one of her cousins found her on Jan. 2 sitting on a log, only around one mile from where she vanished, the Telegraph reported.

She was dehydrated and too exhausted to move but had survived by eating a small orange fruit known as tapereba, as well as drinking water from the stream, according to the outlet.

The girl was brought to a hospital in Amapa, where she is expected to recover from her ordeal, the report said.
